Xplora wins Best Team at South Summit Madrid 2026
Xplora receives the Best Team award at the South Summit Madrid 2026 Startup Competition and also wins the Mobility & Smart Cities vertical.

Two distinctions at the Startup Competition
From 3 to 5 June 2026, Xplora took part in South Summit Madrid, an international meeting point for entrepreneurship and innovation. During the Startup Competition, the company received the Best Team award and won the Mobility & Smart Cities vertical. The two distinctions recognise different parts of the work presented in Madrid: the people building the technology and its relevance to urban infrastructure, networks and operational decision-making. Mitiga Solutions received the competition’s Global Winner title.
An international field of finalists
The 2026 competition selected 100 finalist startups from more than 4,500 applications representing 110 countries. Within that international field, Xplora presented its approach to subsurface intelligence: combining data captured through different technologies and turning it into information that can support people planning, assessing or carrying out work in complex environments.
Artificial intelligence for the subsurface
Xplora’s proposition begins with a practical constraint: buried networks, structures and risks cannot be seen from the surface, yet they can affect a project’s schedule, safety and cost. Through DeepGeo.AI, Xplora brings geophysical surveys, sensor fusion and artificial intelligence into a single workflow that organises heterogeneous data and produces georeferenced 2D, 3D and GIS outputs. The same approach supports underground utility mapping and the early assessment of anomalies and constraints before field operations begin.
Recognition for the team behind the technology
The Best Team award reflects the collective capability required to bring this work into real projects. Xplora’s multidisciplinary team combines expertise in geophysics, sensing, data processing, artificial intelligence, engineering and operations. Connecting those disciplines is what makes it possible to move from a raw signal to a readable picture while keeping the technical evidence aligned with the needs of those responsible for an intervention or an infrastructure asset.
Mobility, smart cities and infrastructure
Winning the Mobility & Smart Cities vertical highlights the connection between subsurface knowledge and better urban decisions. Utilities, transport infrastructure and construction projects all need to understand where networks and anomalies are located before excavation or physical intervention begins. Structured information can inform design, direct follow-up investigation and reduce uncertainty during delivery, without replacing the specialist checks and responsibilities that apply in each setting. This is equally relevant to EPC and infrastructure projects, where unidentified subsurface conditions may otherwise emerge only after work is under way.
Looking ahead
The awards received in Madrid support Xplora’s international development and reinforce the direction of its work: building subsurface risk intelligence that connects acquisition, analysis and decision support. The focus remains on making what lies below the surface more understandable, verifiable and useful for complex projects in Italy and international markets.
